Yeah...he's correct. Not just from the wall though. A lot of people don't get that the cable that plugs a computer into a wall can disconnect from the back of the computer and the wall. Sometimes even bumbing it can cause either connection to become loose. Some other possibilities to go along with Safire's are:
*Perhaps not the power source itself, but the cable mentioned is shot.
*The place in which the mentioned cable plugs into the computer is broken, or perhaps the "prongs" are just bent.
Both of these have happened to me. But, in your case of the power block itself being dead...sorry.
