Ceria - Info

Ceria is a world with advanced technology, and magic. This magic is made up of Foci, every one has at least one, and can have up to five. The main city is Eray, and it is centered around the Academy, where students train in technology and magic to fight off the enemy. Transport to and from the cities is dangerous, as the aliens could appear in the trains at any time. Fortunately, there are those who are stationed to protect the transport tunnels.

Foci:

Common: You can choose as many common foci as you want in your five.


Fire: Control over the fire, and heat around you. It draws the heat from the air and other things around you, usually water, and this causes them to freeze. As a major, you can turn yourself into fire.
Water: Control over water and ice. This has the opposite effect of fire, it causes flammable objects to burst into flames if used too strongly around them. As a major, you can turn yourself into water.
Earth: Control over earth, metals, and stones around you. This Focus cannot create it's material, but your never far from earth, metal, or a stone, are you? As a major focus, you can turn non Earth materials into metal/earth/stone. You also become able to manipulate sand.
Air: Control over the air around you. This focus is considered uncommon, but is actually is common, just not used much. If this is your major, you can use this to fly, or to walk through very, very small holes.
Healing: Control over the health, and lack thereof, of a person. A healer can heal... or harm. As a major focus, you can actually perform a true resurrection.
Projection: Control over your senses, to the point where you can displace them through your other foci. If Projection is your major, then you can project your senses anywhere.
Mystic: Control over magical enchantments, spells, and such. This is things like an entanglement spell, or a shielding enchantment, and stuff like that. If taken as a major focus, this can begin to imitate other foci.

Uncommon: You can have three uncommon foci.


Light: Control over the light around you. Like fire and water, this is more of an inverse effect. Around you, shadows darken as the light you focus on brightens and shifts. As a major focus, this lets you create powerful illusions, and even move at insane speeds. For a short time, at least.
Dark: Control over the shadows around you. Like water and fire, this is more of an inverse effect. When you manipulate shadows, the shadows you are not focusing on begin to drain out, their power fueling yours. As a major focus, you can actually teleport to a shadow equal to your size, as long as you have been there before.
Mind: Control over minds, but not all that strong, no mind control, but you can make them angry at someone for no reason, send thoughts to people, read minds, and so on. As a major, this can indeed grant mind control.
Sound: Control over soundwaves. When you speak, you could sound like an angel. Or a demon. Or a cat. Sound, of any kind, is your element. This focus makes some of the best talkers. As a major, this can be considered force. Can you say Shockwave?
Energy: Control over energy, such as lightning, force, and so on. This lets you walk through the forcefields, and create lightning. The major of this focus can move through electrical charges, such as wires.
(Kaley's Major)Technology: Control over technology, and allows the user to easily fix tech, but can just as easily break it. If this is your major, you can even create electronic devices from base materials, given some time.

Rare: You can only have one rare focus, but rare foci cannot be minor.

(Claimed.) Death: Control over the dead. This is a careful art, and only recently was made legal again. This focus allows you to summon the undead, control the spirits of the dead, and cause decay. You can drain the health from living beings as well. You can use the bones of the dead to create walls for protection, if necessary.
(Claimed.) Shift: Control over form. This power lets you turn into any living being you have seen in person before. You don't get the memories, though.
(Claimed.) Nature: Control over plants and animals, this ability can call wolves, snakes, bears, make trees move, plants strangle, and so on.
Weather: Control over storms, and ability to direct and call them.
(Clamed.) Possession: The rarest ability, Possession allows the person to take over the body of another, including abilities. They can also become permanently attached to another body until that body dies, and the possessor can do the same to the nearest victim. This takes time and focus though, and if the host has enough willpower, the possessor can be forced out. If forced out, then the possessor cannot take that victim again. Likewise, if the possession focus reveals themselves to someone, they cannot take that person.

Eray is surrounded by ocean, and about half a mile out from the city, there is a force field that surrounds and covers the city. This is only passable to Energy mages. It was made to protect against the Kitri, aliens that invaded three years ago, and continue to attack using their teleportation technology. They are more advanced that the humans, and the teleportation tech is still in the process of being reverse engineered.
